Popplet Group Three: Stories
Inspired by: Jean Shin
This studio related to the unit theme of stories by using an often overlooked found object to tell a story. The found object was not necessarily to be used in the way it was intended. Hope, Callee, and I decided to create a wedding ring out of common desk supplies. We used duct tape and paper clips. We chose to include many photos of different couples to include their stories in a sense. Also, similar to Jean Shin's style, we kept the couples' names on many of the photos. This also closely relates to our personal stories of our views and feelings on marriage.
This studio could be implemented in a variety of grades. It would be interesting to see how students can bring new life to objects that are often thrown away.I would allow more brainstorming time. Many students in our block needed more time to think of an idea. I think that students would enjoy this project and see it as a worth while challenge.

This studio was related to stories in that it asked us to create a scene that told a story and to make a statement on a topic of choice. The topic had to be something that we felt strongly about. I chose to do a two part piece. It features what people often stereotype sorority women to be like (top) and what most sorority women are like (bottom). This is something that often bothers me.
This studio could be implemented into my future classroom very effectively. It would give students to stand up on a topic that is important to them. I would love to tie this into social justice and activism if possible. This project empowers students and allows them to express their viewpoint in a new way.

This studio related to the theme of stories by asking us to think of a favorite storybook or personal story we have from our childhood. I chose to tell the story of the great raccoon trap from when I was little. My neighbor and I sat outside for hours hoping to catch a raccoon with Pringles. Fortunately, we never did. I chose to do a bright border that contrasted the cool colors of the composition. The colors in the border are also mixes of the red and yellow that are in the two little girls hair.
This studio is one that I would feel very comfortable in including into my classroom. I would love for students to share their favorite books or personal stories. It could help to build the classroom community. Th
