Popplet Group Two: Relationships
Inspired by: Mary Cassatt
This goal of this project was to experiment with different forms of print making and to use the print making to display a relationship of some kind. I made a print using a styrofoam plate. The relationship I chose to explore is the relationship between my best friend Susan and me. I chose to include a tree and a swing for a few reasons. It can be seen to explore the relationship between the tree and the swing or nature and humans. The background includes a quote from Shel Silverstein's, "Where the Sidewalk Ends".
I would use this project in my classroom to allow students to explore their identity through a relationship they are familiar with.

This studio related to the main idea of relationships through the subject matter we chose to relate the the viewer. We had the option of creating a paper house or creating a paper basket. I created the basket and turned it into a pot of gold. These resemble the black flower pots that sit outside my house. Around St. Patrick's Day my Mom will fill them with "gold" and tie green bows around them. This project related to the relationship my family has to St. Patrick's Day.
I could use this project in my classroom in many ways. It would be useful to practice paper folding and/or cutting to develop students' fine motor skills. This studio would also allow students the creativity to explore a lesson as a big picture (house) or an aspect of a lesson (basket).
